TRINITY BOXING GYM
Born and raised in the “Steel City” of Pittsburgh, PA, Liz was already well-equipped with a strong mind, passionate heart, and unrelenting determination required for the sport of boxing. Although relatively new to the sport, Mistick spent most of adolescent years as an athlete, with 4 years of high-school varsity lacrosse, swimming, and soccer under her belt. Not only that, but she was also a student at the Pittsburgh ballet theater for 8 years and a member of Pittsburgh Musical Theater for 3. Upon moving to New York to attend Pace University in 2013, Mistick soon discovered that her passions lie elsewhere, and transferred to New York University in the spring of 2015 to purse a degree in Social and Cultural Analysis and a minor in Nutrition and Dietetics. As a result, Liz has become an advocate for child and community nutrition, offering her services as an assistant educator and cooking instructor in facilities such as the Grand Street Settlement. You can also find Liz teaching classes as an instructor at New York’s ModelFIT, a boutique fitness experience that combines Pilates, strength, and mobility training to create a new “model of fitness” to achieve a deeper pursuit of mindful movement.
Training out of Trinity Boxing Club in downtown Manhattan, Liz is honored to be benefitting Gleason’s Give a Kid a Dream Foundation. As a community of lovers and fighters, she believes that there is no greater joy for a boxer than to get into the ring with a fellow athlete and fight for the future and potential to create another. “Boxing is a sport that has completely changed my life—physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally,” she says, “you have to give it all you’ve got each time you step into that ring, whether training or fighting. You have to be willing to experience pain, discomfort; there’s so much to endure, but you always come out exponentially stronger, and that simple concept has totally changed the way I live my life. Boxing for me has been the ultimate exploration of the self, and has given me a sense of confidence and purpose I can’t even begin to describe. Thus, I feel that it is truly a privilege to be able to team up with Fighters4Life, as I hope both myself and my fellow fighters can give our nation’s youth the chance to discover the beauty and discipline of this sport.”
