Give A Kid A Dream Gets Back To The Ring in High-Tech Style Thanks To VR
Brooklyn, January 1: We help inner city youth in their formative years. We work to instill confidence through boxing training, tutor to help with school work and provide a safe haven for our participants.
To teach our youth how to box and have them engage more in a way they can relate to, the oldest running boxing gym in the USA, Gleasons Boxing Gym, in Brooklyn, NY is using Oculus virtual reality to teach participants of Give a Kid a dream program boxing.
“The level of participant excitement and enthusiasm has never been so high” says, Bruce Silverglade, President of Gleason’s Gym. “We are deeply rooted in boxing tradition and training but we are finding youth today really relate to the Oculus and are spending more time in the gym working out and learning to box. We plan on implementing this method of learning with all our participants and we think it's great." Give a Kid a Dream, continues to be one of the most successful youth boxing programs out of New York City. We strive to keep up with the most innovative ways of teaching children to become world champions of life.

The Cathedral Of Boxing

Meet Bruce Silverglade
President, Gleason's Gym
Over the last thirty years, Bruce Silverglade has been busy keeping one of boxing’s grandest traditions alive. He is the driving force behind Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, a boxing treasure since 1937.
One of the last of New York City’s thriving boxing gyms, Gleason’s has been the training headquarters for such legends as Jake LaMotta, Muhammad Ali and Roberto Duran. In all, 131 World Champions have trained inside the gym’s hallowed walls. Currently five active title holders workout at Gleason’s as well as numerous contenders and dozens of Golden Gloves champions. And yes, women train at Gleason’s too.

"Now, whoever has courage, and a strong and collected spirit in his breast, let him come forward, lace on the gloves and put up his hands."
Virgil (The Aeneid, Book 5)

COME TO THE GYM
The oldest gym of its kind in New York City is all new, and more popular than ever.
Eighty-five years after it was founded in the heart of the Bronx, The Hub at 149th St. and Third Ave., and three decades after arriving in Brooklyn, Gleason’s Gym is thriving in new quarters in the shadow of the Manhattan Bridge.
“It’s busier now than it’s ever been,” says owner Bruce Silverglade. “It’s a good thing.”
