The Wall Of Roca
We're going to grab as many images from social media and the web as we can and make this page a digital Wall of Roca
Hector Roca was more than just an icon in the boxing world, more than the a Hall of Fame trainer of 30+ world champions... he was simply one of the most beloved trainers that Gleason's Gym has ever known or had.
The gym is more than just saddened, but we're still in shock at this loss. This is going to be a body shot that we carry with us for a while.
There are few things that have laid the Gleason's family as low as this in a long time.
And honestly what can we say about Hector? Most recently named the number one Spanish-speaking trainer in the world by International Boxing Digest. Roca was a former two-time Olympic cyclist from Panama. He coached and trained a plethora of actors and celebrities including John Leguizamo, Usher, and probably most famously, Hector trained Hilary Swank for her Oscar-winning role in Million Dollar Baby.
Roca worked most notably with Arturo Gatti, leading him to his first world title in 1995, and worked with Hector Camacho Sr. at the tail end of his career when he defeated Roca’s Panamanian compatriot Robert Duran in their 2001 rematch. He also worked with world champions Iran Barkley, James “Buddy” McGirt and Regilio Tuur, and, in more recent times, Heather Hardy and Alicia Ashley.
